Zen Fundamentals:
Body, Breath, and Mind
A Three-Session Online Course on the Core Aspects of Zazen
To manifest Purposeful Work, be fully Present.
To be fully Present, make your work Purposeful.
Presence is supported by attentional practices, as Purpose is supported by clear intention. Zen has always taken attentional practices as the basis for expanding the dynamic relationship between Attention and Intention.
The core aspects of Zen — as for most mindfulness practices — are Body, Breath, and Mind. Each has subtle depths of empowerment, and their interrelationship is intimate and complex. Having taught Zen Meditation for decades, I have distilled the practices and principles into three concentrated, informative and fun sessions. I am offering these at a very low price through my Eon Zen Center.
For a one-time fee of $45, receive entry to the interactive livestream of these three sessions as well as access to the session recordings.
Session 1: Body
LIve Zoom: Wednesday, October 7
6:45-8:00pm MT
Meditation is not what you think!
You cannot think yourself into Presence; in fact thoughts usually get in the way! That’s why Mindfulness always begins with the physical body, feeling into sensation, energy and balance, whether in stillness or activity. Intentionality of your posture supports the attentional capacity of your mind, and ultimately your potential to bring purposeful work alive in the world.
Learn the simple practices and principles for establishing dynamic ease: the “not too tight, not too loose” condition needed for deep Presence.
Session 2: Breath
LIve Zoom: Wednesday, October 14
6:45-8:00pm MT
For millennia, breath has been the primary portal to Presence. As the expression of the emotional body, the breath bridges the physical and mental bodies. Our highest functioning is dependent on the degree to which we can harmonize our bodies and minds.
Breathing connects the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, the conscious and unconscious, inner and outer.
Learn the simple practices and principles for regulating the nervous system for body-mind coherence.
Session 3: Mind
LIve Zoom: Wednesday, October 21
6:45-8:00pm MT
Bringing attention to our own attention opens up the witnessing capacity that neutralizes our mental reactivities. We shift our relationship to our own thoughts. Only in the gap between stimulus and reactivity can we take back the reins of our “monkey-minds” and manifest our intentions in purposeful work.
Learn how to work with your attentional capacities to shift your relationship to your thoughts.
